Scrap metal catches fire at Walker recycling center
WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — A fire at a recycling center in Walker has been extinguished after prompting a large response from area fire departments. The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at PADNOS Iron and Metal facility on Turner Avenue near Ann Street, just west of US-131. The Walker fire chief says scrap metal caught fire while workers were moving it on an outdoor conveyer belt. He said no one was hurt in the fire and no buildings were damaged.
