Lowell police chief turns the tables on IRS scammers
LOWELL, Mich. (WOOD)— Lowell’s police chief is taking aim at a group of scammers posing as Internal Revenue Service agents. Authorities in at least five West Michigan counties this week reported a spike in calls about the scheme, in which the suspect poses as an IRS agent, demands the caller pay back taxes they don’t actually owe and threatens to arrest, deport or revoke the victim’s license if they do not pay.
