GR police recruits save man from choking
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – New recruits in the Grand Rapids Police Department served lunch at God’s Kitchen Thursday. Two of them also saved a man’s life. The 12 recruits were helping serve lunch at the mission when Recruit Officers Allison Kolden and Tyler Sheppard noticed Jerome Goldston, 55, slumped over in his chair. They determined he was choking and Sheppard tried a back blow to relieve him.  It didn’t work and he then picked Goldston up and did the Heimlich Maneuver.  That dislodged the food and he started breathing again....
