Battle Creek police pursuit ends in deadly crash
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD)— A Battle Creek motorcyclist is dead after trying to outrun police. Relatives confirm 22-year-old Zachary Phillips died early Monday morning after crashing his motorcycle. Michigan State Police say it all began when a trooper tried to stop Phillips for speeding on Columbia Avenue in Emmett Township. Authorities say Phillips stopped briefly, acknowledging the trooper, then sped off. Troopers say Phillips lost control on a sharp curve, veered off the road and crashed. He died at the scene.
