The United States Postal Service was first started by Benjamin Franklin in Philadelphia in 1775. The United States Postal Service is one of the few government agencies authorized by our Constitution. In 1971 the postal reorganization act came along and as a result the USPS is now an independent agency of the United States government an "independent establishment of the executive branch".

You may have heard their new slogan,"IF IT FITS IT SHIPS". The one rule is, whatever you can fit into the flat rate box or envelope "up to 70 pounds" will ship for one low rate to anywhere in the US.
